About Rosa
State Representative Rosa C. Rebimbas was elected to the Connecticut State House of Representatives representing the 70th district in Naugatuck in a special election in March of 2009. She is a life-long resident of Naugatuck, local business owner and community leader.
Representative Rebimbas grew up in Naugatuck to Portuguese parents, Francisco and Maria Rosa Rebimbas, and has one older brother, Frank Rebimbas all of whom still live in Naugatuck. Representative Rebimbas is married and maintains a home in Naugatuck with her husband Ever Linares.
Representative Rebimbas was educated through the Naugatuck public school system and went on to attend college at Fairfield University in Fairfield, Connecticut. Rep. Rebimbas graduated from Fairfield University with a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Political Science and Secondary Education, and received a minor in Faith, Peace, and Justice. Thereafter, Rep. Rebimbas attended the S.J. Quinney College of Law, at the University of Utah, in Salt Lake City, Utah. After graduating with a law degree, Rep. Rebimbas returned to Naugatuck, where she knew she wanted to practice law and give back to the local community.
Shortly after her return to Naugatuck, Rep. Rebimbas passed the Connecticut Bar Exam and began practicing law at a local law firm until she started her own law firm in 2007. In 2009, she merged with two other law partners forming the law offices of Hardman, McPadden & Rebimbas, L.L.C.
Rep. Rebimbas has been heavily involved with community service. She served on the Water Pollution Board and then went on to serve on the Naugatuck Finance Board. Rep. Rebimbas currently serves as the President of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Waterbury, Inc. and serves on the Board of Directors of Guardian Ad Litem Services. Rep. Rebimbas is also an active member of several other professional legal organizations and community groups, including the Naugatuck Republican Town Committee.
As State Representative, Rebimbas currently serves on the following legislative committees: Appropriations, Energy and Technology, and Public Safety and Security.
Rep. Rebimbas has successfully worked with her colleagues on both sides of the aisle in order to negotiate and pass important legislation.
Representative Rebimbas gained national attention in her first term when she sponsored a bill regarding teens and “Sexting.” She appeared on the national FOX News Network, the morning news program of “Fox and Friends,” and on CNN. She was also highlighted in several local and statewide newspapers for her ability to gain support for her bill from her colleagues.
The “Sexting” bill unanimously passed both the House of Representatives and the Senate.
In her role as State Representative, Rebimbas was honored to provide the keynote address at several ceremonies, including the grand opening of the Connecticut Census Office, serving the Greater Waterbury area located in Middlebury; the Naugatuck Police Department Award Ceremony; the Connecticut Motorcycle Riders Association; and The Portuguese Foundation, Inc. Annual Scholarship Banquet. Rep. Rebimbas has served as co-chair with Congressman John Larson at the annual PALCUS (Portuguese American Leadership Council of the U.S.) Gala and has had the opportunity to host and attend many other events benefiting the residents of Naugatuck.
