Rep. Rebimbas joined Ed Flynn during his final week as host of the wildly popular WATR radio show “Talk of the Town.”  Flynn, host of  Talk of the Town for more than 18 years, said he’s been in radio for 55 years and while he’s stepping down as host of the program he will remain active at WATR filling in when they need him.

During their half-hour discussion topics ranged from  Flynn’s retirement, the growing state budget deficit, the national political scene, Renaissance Place, and the need for sustainable services that bring much needed jobs to Connecticut.  They also discussed the State Energy Appliance Rebate Program (SEEARP) which is scheduled to begin this month.

The State Energy Appliance Rebate Program (SEEARP) will offer $50 rebates for the purchase and installation of Energy Star rated refrigerators, freezers, and room air conditioners.  Clothes washers will be eligible for a $100 rebate if they meet Energy Star CEE Tier 2 standards and central air conditioning systems are eligible for a $500 rebate.

Phase I of the program is anticipated to begin in January 2010 and run through March 31, 2010. A second phase will be implemented after that if funding is still available.  This represents an earlier starting date than many other states that are eligible for the federally funded program.

Rebate forms will be available at appliance retailers, utility companies and on the state website-   www.ct.gov/opm – when the program officially begins.
